“Sabbie di Sutta” Cerasuolo di Vittoria has a lively cherry-red colour and an intense aroma of red fruit and floral notes. Its smooth, full and harmonious taste pairs very well with many traditional Sicilian recipes and the typical flavors of the Mediterranean cousine. This red wine is a blend of Nero d’Avola and Frappato grapes grown on sandy soils in the Vittoria area, a corner of Sicily that smells like Africa, situated just a few miles from the southernmost tip of the Italian peninsula.
Grape varieties: Nero d’Avola 60% - Frappato 40%
Vineyards: sandy soil, situated at approximately 200 m above sea level; training system: espalier spurred cordon for the Nero d’Avola grapes, guyot for the Frappato grapes
Raccolta: by hand into crates, in the second half of September
Maceration: cold maceration for 24 hours
Fermentation: for approximately 10-15 days at a controlled temperature (22-24°C)
Ageing: mainly in stainless steel vats, a short ageing in tonneaux and 4-6 months in the bottle
Alcohol content: 13,5% vol.
Colour: a vivid cherry-red colour
Nose: an intense floral and red berry aroma
Palate: intensely fruity, soft, full-bodied and harmonious
Food Pairings: cured meats and cheese not too aged, savory first courses, grilled meats; it goes perfectly with many traditional Sicilian and Mediterranean dishes
Serving temperature: 16-18°C
