These wines are produced from the best grapes grown on the lava terraces of the Monte Gorna vineyard. The low yields in the vineyard, the hand-picking and the careful selection of the grapes give life to these very complex and elegant wines. The volcanic terroir gives them the typical mineral character. The long ageing includes a passage in french oak barriques of 24 months for the red wine and 12 months for the white wine, which contributes to enrich their flavour profile.

This collection of top red wines and classic method sparkling wines, produced in a limited series using only the best grapes from our vineyards, is the highest expression of a passion for winemaking that, for more than one hundred years, has inspired the work of the Nicosia family. Sosta Tre Santi means a stopping place for three saints, is a tribute to Trecastagni, the ancient Etna village where the Nicosia’s winery rises up, and the three saints Alfio, Cirino and Filadelfo who, along their journey towards martyrdom, stopped in the town that devotedly worships them even today.

The Nicosia “cru” wines of Etna come from the Monte Gorna and Monte San Nicolò estates, both located in the Trecastagni area, very close to the wine cellar. Two red wines and two white wines that authentically represent the great variety of expressions that the terroir and native vines of Etna can offer. These DOC wines are the demonstration that on the volcano each slope, each area, each vineyard can produce wines with different characteristics, giving unique and unrepeatable sensations.
